Do you have a senior dog who has trouble with stairs? or getting in the car?
Our Chocolate Lab is 13 years old and for the last four years or so couldn’t go up the few steps of our deck. We made two ramps for him, using two sheets of plywood. After two days of training with treats, he understood how easy it was to use.
Unfortunately, he can’t go into the TV room in the basement anymore as he can’t come back up. Believe me, I searched for solutions, even looked at doggie elevators!
We decided instead to install a gate at the top of the stairs not only to prevent him from going down but also as a safety measure for our grandsons, who are 2 1/2 and 10 months old.
Do you have little dogs needing a ramp or steps to get on your bed?
Happy the Beagle is small and loved to get on my bed to sleep. Last summer he suffered from a herniated disc and I was worried he would hurt himself again jumping on the bed which was pretty high. I looked at dog steps and ramps but realized there wasn’t enough space in the room.
Then I had a ah!ah! moment one morning thinking about it: I simply removed the bed aluminum frame the mattress and box spring were on and voila, problem solved. I realized not everyone is willing or can do this, so here are some suggested items that could do the trick.
